'Azucar Lounge'
Mural for Azucar Lounge, in collaboration with Paint the Void - a non profit that works to pair up artists with businesses hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because traditional farming practices can't keep up with the demand for tequila production, a lot of the diverse, locally adapted agave species have been replaced by big blue agave plantations. This makes the plants and ecosystem a lot more susceptible to disease. This can be seen as correlation to the COVID-19 pandemic - a healthy ecosystem directly affects public health, and our communities are stronger because of beauty diversity brings. Highlighted are multiple species of agave, just as we should highlight, celebrate, and preserve diversity in our own communities and environment.
